COO – Technology & Transformation
Anu George is the COO – Technology & Transformation for Morningstar, the leading
independent investment research firm. She works at the intersection of emerging
technologies, strategy, leadership & operational excellence and is known for her ability
to drive global, enterprise wide business innovation and transformation. She is a
frequent speaker on topics such as ‘future of work’, driving transformations, diversity &
inclusion, business excellence and leadership.
In acknowledgement of her achievements, Anu was was recognized by Crain’s Chicago
Business as one of the 2020 Notable Women Executives in Chicago.
At Morningstar, Anu has helped introduce and drive adoption of emereging
technologies like AI, machine learning, RPA, and chatbots to transform how work is
done. She is most energized when she is helping leaders discern the trends of the future
and help them successfully embrace that future.
Prior to Morningstar, Anu has worked at Unilever and GE. At Unilever, her last stint was
as the brand manager for one of the leading coffee brands in India. During her long
tenure at GE, Anu held a number of senior roles. She was responsible for launching
innovative finance and credit products for the Indian consumer; and helping grow the
then fledging offshore business process outsouring arm of GE. In the US, Anu held
several executive roles in business integrations, and operations management.
Anu has global experience through her extensive work in Asia, North America, and
Europe. She is committed to the cause of diversity, equity and inclusion, and has been
the executive sponsor of the Women’s resource group & Indian affinity group both at GE
& Morningstar. She is also an an Advisory Board Member of the Illinois Technology
Association (Women Influence Chicago and AI Council).
Anu believes in giving back to the community and is active in her role as a Board
Member of the Chicago Literacy Association.
Anu is an avid reader and her reading lists comprises an eclectic choice of material
relating to technology, science, business, leadership, history and religion.
Anu holds a bachelor’s degree in economics and accounting and a master’s degree in
business administration, with a specialization in marketing, from the University of
